thanks for the feedback guys -you all made some good points! no worms on it, iv had them and flatworm exited them but im going to tryn get some more consistent alk and if that has no effect it must be flow or light, i do push it on the light sometimes, i try to make everyone (the reef) happy but someone (coral) always gets upset and then i make adjustments and too much touchy touchy ugg

Flatworm exit won’t work on polyclad worms that eat lps it’s a different breed! I found a couple huge ones on a torch I recently got.. rrrr

Two point alk swings is a pretty big swing.

Can you provide a short (30 second) video of the torch garden so we can ascertain the flow?

120 should be just fine as far as par goes. It's on the low side, so shouldn't be causing a light shock/recession.

Where are your nutrients sitting?
How does the neck tissue look? This is easiest to see with a flashlight before lights on.

Beer makes your nails grow?! Well, that explains the sudden growth of toe nails!!! :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing::grimacing-face:

@Lost in the Sauce is spot on !!

I noticed you said n03 and p04 are 0 or low.

That is also a contributing factor as you know. Coral need nutrients. And with the those out of whack any swing will make coral pis sed.

Find out what N and P really are if you can.

Your theory is high nutrients caused it? I doubt but curious how high

Placement is one issue as they do best at lower third of tank but not directly on sandbed as they need medium flow and light. To achieve this flow, you would be blowing sand around where it sits. They are phoyosynthetic and require good not Bight lighting for zooxanthellae which is their energy source produced by light.
They require calcium levels for their skeleton of at least 380 - 400 and as with your tank, they dont tolerate swings well and best in a stable and well seeded tank
Feeding 2x per week with mysis is necessary
