Man....I want to move closer to wildlife.

Lol. It is a blessing and a curse, or so I've heard. Blessing in that you are closer to Mother Earth. Sights, smells, and more. The curse, well, you get some fun unwanted creatures in your house sometimes :)

I recall growing up as a kid and watching that silly show Flipper. I always wanted to live close to the ocean and find a job that kept me on it like a park ranger or such. I think that was in Florida and I'm on the other coast out in California :) I do go scuba diving though so there is that.

Here is our wild animal :) If she wasn't on the patio we just poured maybe it would have qualified :D I guess not though. We do have a bunch of blue belly lizards which she was just chasing, and failing, to catch. Which is good because we like them too.

We have a little opossum that lives in a little weeping pine, like 5ft tall, right out our front door. We have watched him grow from just a little guy to full grown. Every night around 7PM we see him climb down and head out for the evening.

There is a local pet store but it only carries freshwater fish. If you want to get to saltwater stuff you have to drive a little over 200 miles.
Also the Kilchers from the show Alaska The Last Frontier live right outside of Homer. Its funny how they act like they have to get things done to "survive" the winter when we see them in the grocery store all the time.

Yeah I day dream at times of moving. If nothing else, out of the city.....

corey
You don't have to go too far out of the city to see wildlife....my folks live 25 miles from Boston, deer, coyotes, you name it....sometimes moose will run down the green corridor of the interstates and wind up in the suburbs.

Where I live in Vermont it is recommened not to put out bird feeders until Dec 1st because of the bears.

I hit a small moose with my truck about a mile from my house, seen bears in the road by my house, hear packs of coyotes, seen a turkey fly over the house, seen bobcat, beavers, mink, otter, deer with fawns, and darn squirrels eating my apples.

My neighbor has a lot of issues with squirrels getting into his bird feeders. I swear it is good for both of them though because he will make a change, the squirrels get upset, and them wise up and change their plans, and eat. Neighbor grumbles and changes again, and so the dance goes. Pretty funny although I know they both know they can find a solution to prevent one from getting the food but I think it keeps him busy :)

I told him one day that he may want to be careful because I hear some squirrels use the force and carry Lightsabers :) He smiles, makes a hand motion, and that is the end of the story. We do have wet lands near us so get to see a lot of bird activity which is nice.

Yeah, I mean I can go just 30 minutes away and be out submerged around some wildlife. I only go about 45 minutes to deer hunt. I would like to live more in the country type setting though. As long as I can still get to golf courses quick enough a few days a week in the warm days....

As I started to watch this I was thinking this guy looked familiar. Sure enough the lad who built the glitter box. This was pretty funny I have to say. Never saw it before so thanks. Giggled a few times.

Oh....the golf course is upstream from me about 1/4 mile. The wife and I take our dog there now since it is closed for the winter....the river runs through it.....seen a couple of 20 inch brown trout recently.

I mow a little dog leg left in my yard....mostly ruff....par three, use a pitching wedge. It was pretty complete a few years ago when a flood brought down a couple of sand rakes, a divot mix box and unlimited golf balls.

Last year the field across the river from me had standing corn late into the fall. The grey squirrels would climb trees and jump across the river like monkeys and proceed to eat corn on my deck....cobs were all over the place.

We took a trip to Belize over Thanksgiving and saw all kinds of wildlife...started with bird watching/howler monkeys in the jungle and ended with iguanas, sea birds, and coral reefs on Ambergris Caye...if you haven’t been to Belize, I highly recommend it!
