Will a rodi unit remove nitrates from tap water?

Hi my tap water has 10ppm of nitrates in it. Would a rodi unit remove the nitrates?

Yes, an RO/DI unit will remove all total dissolved solids.

You are right at the EPA limit for nitrates in drinking water. I wouldn't drink that water (untreated), and for sure don't let any babies drink it untreated. The USEPA says:
"Infants below the age of six months who drink water containing nitrate in excess of the MCL could become seriously ill and, if untreated, may die. Symptoms include shortness of breath and blue-baby syndrome."

Nitrate removal by the membranes we are most familiar with, Filmtec Brand, is typically 85% to 98%. That range will easily get you down to safe levels of nitrates. Running the RO water through DI resin will reduce it even further.

Oh snap! I did not know nitrates in that low a concentration could be harmful to humans! My well water has nitrates in the 30-40 range. It's delicious.

Nitrates can be deadly to infants!
It can cause what is referred to as "Blue Baby Syndrome" which is caused when they cannot get enough oxygen due to the nitrates in the boodstream.

Luckily I only act like an infant, and have no competition in my household. The EPA standard of 10 ppm is apparently ppm-N. I think our aquarium test kits measure ppm-NO3 which would put the equivalent limit at something like 45 ppm. I read (in the PSEP fact sheet) that there are no health concerns for adults (and 190 lb infants) until levels reach 100-200 ppm-N. Either way I should be ok.
