Question, will fluconazole treatment kill my chaeto ? I am thinking about treating my tank for bryopsis and hair algea. I am running a bucket refugium with chaeto and was wondering if anyone has experience with reef flux affecting their chaeto. Thanks

Thanks for the reply. Its already in a bucket so I will just shut off the flow valve feeding the bucket I guess. Can I just put a small powerhead in the bucket for flow or do you think an airstone is necessary? I'm just trying to limit the bubbles causing alot of salt creep.

I took my chaeto out put it in a bucket with no powerhead and no light. I put chaeto back in on the 5th day and my chaeto didn't die. Got rid my hair algae in the DT and chaeto survived. Pretty happy about that :)

Thanks for the reply! There's nothing better than an actual result! Did you go the full 2 weeks before a water change?

Note I run chaeto in a reactor but I imagine if it wasn't in a reactor it would still survive when placed back in your refugium. Give it a go and report back here.

I'm taking the bucket refugium off line and I'll be running it with a small pump for the 2 or 3 weeks that I'm running the fluconazole. I'll just add some iron supplement and a few pellets of food every few days to keep it going until I hook it back up.

Yeah it will wipe it out. Stick it in the bucket for a few weeks should be fine and put fuge light on a timer with an airstone.
Btw I tried this and my Chaeto got wiped out

The bucket + fuge light + airstone thing was a total failure. I just ended up tossing the whole batch.
