@jsker, I would agree that the sallylight foot may pose a problem as it matures. No personal experience with them, but have heard they can go rouge as they get older. I'd trap it and re-home before a clam to be safe. Jmtcw.

Beginner clams, if there really is such a thing, I would vote derasa. They are a bit more forgiving and will grow a bit slower than your squamosa, which would be the second choice for beginner.

You need very good light for crocea and maximas. Size matters too. I would not get a clam under 4" if you help it. Will save you many headaches and sadness. IME

I heart my clam (it's the 2nd one I'm trying - the first was way too soon... sad face). Looks like you've got a stunner there for sure!

Those are sweet!!
All clams are pretty awesome. Dersera clams are very bullet proof. I love em. But that being said I only Own 1 clam and it was a hitchhiker and was dipped and quarantined. I'm thinking it's a Dersera but wont know for another year.
