Wire replacement on apex classic control display module

So I have an extra display module for my classic apex setup. Only problem is the wire is bare in areas and there is some rust on the plug that inserts into the base unit. That wire is very thin . Can it be replaced and if so is it a DIY project or not? Also, where would one look for the wire and plug if it’s replaceable?
