Woke up both my tanks extremely cloudy

I have two separate systems one’s been going for a little over a year. The other one’s been going for six months went to bed last night. Everything looked fine. Woke up this morning both tanks are cloudy I have no idea what’s going on since they’re both not connected in any way and nothing‘s been touched in about a week. what could cause them to both be cloudy if they’re not even connected

Just wanted to add I know my smaller ones a glass hasn’t been cleaned. It is a macro algae tank but I’m so confused how the water is cloudy in both

Looks like a bacterial bloom.

Clean all mechanical filtration (sponges) thoroughly and run a UV sterilizer. It will clear up in a few days.

Don’t have a UV sterilizer sadly talk to my girlfriend apparently she added zoo tonic from tropic marine yes she use the whole bottle thinking it was zooplankton, but it’s not so I might just do a water change

I was going to say - either over feeding or adding other nutrients. You can increase aeration if that is an issue *looks like a bacterial bloom and wait or you can do some larger water changes (see the Hamza Reef calculator to see how effective). Also. check your parameters - including ammonia if you have a kit. Hope this helps.

PS - what size bottle was it? - and how many gallons of water. In your algae tank I would be less concerned

It was the small bottle she said she added half to the big tank ish did a 10 gallon water change to hopefully help big tank is like 65 gallons water volume maybe 70

This is why my Gal does nothing but look at the tanks. The old saying too many cooks spoil the broth comes to mind

Did a 10 gallon water change came home tanks still cloudy skimmers been working hard looks a tad better hopefully by morning it’s all cleared

Are these tanks at or near a window?
Was there any brief power outage?
