Lets start a fun conversation about the worst named things in the hobby. Could be fish, inverts, corals or equipment. What things have the most ironic names. My favorite is the foxface:

You know, I have always wondered why they are called fox face fish when they look nothing like them.

Wikipedia says "The specific name vulpinus means "fox-like", Schlegel and Müller did not explain what this alluded to but it is thought to be the pointed snout."

I'll give them that, it does have a pointed snout. But my first observation on this fish is not "oh, pointed snout", it's "oh, cute striped face".

I've said this before about the Mystery Wrasse...
Sesame Street Mystery GIF by PBS KIDS

There could absolutely be a way better name.
p. ocellatus should be p. mysterium.

Or I'm sure @i cant think or @Petcrazyson could come up with a way cooler name than that.

This is great! I literally just added a Fox face to my FOWLR tank and named him Badger because that's what his face reminded me of.

I’ll do my second (I have a few).
This is the “CoraLife” digital power center. Which I found out has the fun quirk of randomly reset if itself so that if you use it for your lights may just decide to never turn your lights on.
For me it would get to 8am, fail to turn the lights on, reset back to 0:00 and repeat so my lights would never turn on.

Coralife more like coral death.

Keep it clean and according to our TOS please. I realize some "hobby names" are crass but please don't mention them here. Thanks.
