Hey Everyone,

Just curious if it’s worth it to post questions about specific SPS pieces. The reason I ask is I have thought about it but then realize all tanks are different and many things grow completely different in completely different tanks. I mean it’s simple enough to post the basic parameters but what about par?….. plus all the other crazy different things that are very different tank to tank.
Curious everyone’s thoughts !!

I definitely have a couple I would like to ask about but could see it being pointless. I test my parameters weekly but do not have a par meter and have not tested par.

How will you get answers if you don't ask?

Don't be shy we are an all inclusive group here that like to spend all day with our fish and corals.

I love this forum! All the people are so helpful and kind. I definitely wouldn’t have had my fair share of “success” without the amazing help from the experienced people.

I say ask away!

I agree, ask away!

I think the question is not whether to ask, but more what you do with the information. Having lurked here for a long time, I know that every question gets a variety of answers, and almost always results in suggestions being 100% conflicting. The skill you need is to take all of the advice into consideration, but not go chasing 38 solutions to 1 problem.

But yeah I think it's totally appropriate to ask species-specific questions. I think there's enough experience here that someone will have good advice on most anything you ask about.

I guess I meant more that it would not be possible to answer the questions accurately due to how many variables are connected to different tanks that could have an impact on SPS.

You're right – there are certainly an endless number of variables from tank to tank. But then there are common "knowns" about specific species. "This guy likes lower flow than you'd think" or "this guy likes more nutrients in the water than other SPS". Often these are anecdotes, but worthwhile all the same.
