Today it got really hot during the day, the temp in my tank climbed a bit. So I grabbed the little Hygger aquarium fans I bought and of course, it's hard to find a good place to mount these on the rim because then the custom lid doesn't work. So I thought what if I hanged them off the Printed Reef shade for the Radions? Each of the two fans weighs 7.7 oz. I admit to being a nervous Nelly and I'm seeing all kinds of catastrophes in my mind. Would you do this?

I used the Orphek hanging kit to hang an OR4 from my two Noopsyche mounting arms. My concern with the shade would be how it attaches to the lights and how solid it is.

The shades slides on to the light so in theory...
My Printed Reef shades are on a Neptune Sky and they're a 2 piece that clips together. My Noopsyche shades are installed from the top and hang on the light itself. I'd be more comfortable hanging them off my Noops shades than my Sky shades for sure.

The other concern is going to be the bracket attached to the arm - can it handle the additional weight?

Hmmmm.... these Radion arms seem solid, but again... I'm always scared! LOL. Maybe there are some cheap mounting brackets I can get to attach to the back chamber (this is an AIO), so it doesn't get in the way of the cover screen.

These Hygger light mounts are $23 on sale now. Overkill obviously, but maybe worth it. (And there are now a million things hanging off the back rim of this tank! 🤣 😭 )

I redid the programing on my two HD Prime 16s put the level up to 100 then they kept going off on thermal so I was thinking of doing something similar for a different reasons maybe 12 volt computer fans or something but now you have given me an alternative . I realize you are doing what you are doing what if you used a power head as well or wave maker which I think is the same thing ? to disturb the water more for heat transfer

That's what I do. My Tunze Turbelle is aimed slightly upward towards the surface. 15 seconds of every minute the intensity turns up and gives about 3/4" waves across the top of my tank (mostly isolated to the middle) for extra evaporation.

First you dont need 2 fans on that small of a system.
I run 1 Tunze Aquawind on my 170 and 112. The 112 runs a 400 watt halide. It keeps the system 3-4° below room temp.
I would find a way to attach it to the vertical bar and not the shade.
I have those shades and sometimes bumping them, its unavoidable in a small system, always occurs when working in the tank.
