Wow fish for a 65 gallon?

Not sure you're tank is ready for Anthias yet. They can be pricey and finicky.

I thought they were basic (tendency to think school fish as easy fillers)but didn’t read on them yet, are they hard to feed?

75 gallons. With 4 chromis, 3 Oc. Clowns, 3 black and white clowns, lawmower blenny, 2 wrasses, 1 royal gramma, bi-colored angel, 1 red cardinal, 1 green mandarin, 2 flame clowns. And 1 file fish on the way. I need a bigger tank dangit.

How do the multiple clowns do? I swear my kid always wants another clown out of all the fish.

curious wormfish !!!
redspot or stoplight cardinals (can’t remember the name)
or if you want a “wow i don’t like you” fish you could go for a citron goby or engineer goby
pick your poison, one sits on the glass and tries to sit on other fish, the other reorganizes every sand particle and moves rocks

absolutely love the engineer gobies, but not the rockwork risk. Wish there were easier eel like fish for tanks

Multiple clowns can cause problems or work beautifully! I have 3 in my Display Tank - 1 female, 2 males - and 2 in my sump 1 female, 1 male. The 3 in the DT get along fine but the Female originally killed 2 different males I purchased for her. The sump pair were in the same tank when I bought them, both young and still make, and were added at the same time. They've been good for about 3 months but that can change anytime.

That’s surprising, I mean I always see multiple littles at the store but I assumed after that they’d want space (considering all the warning post). My two are so sweet & inseparable in a giant tank, are the three like that together?

Can I ask why the two are in the sump?

The three hang out together constantly, they're almost in that "harem" status.

The two in the sump were purchased specifically for my Nexus Joker Anemones in the sump. I purchased a pair with a Mocha and a Black Ocellaris. I didn't want to risk adding another two clowns to an established group and risk upsetting the apple cart.

My sump "refugium" is set up to house my Anemones and so I decided clowns would be cool in an anemone tank. 3 of them host the clowns throughout the day.

I see a lot of people keep anemones in the sump, is it just an easy spot for them? We got one because we got a deal, however the more expensive corals we get I doubt I’ll want to keep its risk in the display long term - not to mention paranoia on wave makers even with guard.

Mine are in the sump because it keeps them from walkabout and makes it easier to catch and remove for trade in at the LFS. I do have 1 in the DT.

I honestly don’t know how people get them off rocks, I could barely get mine off glass without feeling like I’d hurt it.

Are lfs usually pretty good about trade ins? I know a lot of people mention it but haven’t actually looked into it (or had the means to need to).

Some are, some aren't. They usually only give you 25%-50% of what it's worth but it's little to no trouble for you.

Thanks I’ll read into it. I wanna swap out my rocks already while my coral are in qt, I would have placed the nems in there already if it wasn’t for fear they’d be on the rock

It’s a risk, but they are just too beautiful to pass on imo. I’ve had one every tank with no issues.

I have a flame angel in my 75 and he’s a favorite. He will absolutely destroy trachys and acans though. He will nip a little at my SPS but it doesn’t bother them. He doesn’t bother my zoas, mushrooms, leathers, duncan, trumpet, and pectinia. So it’s definitely a risk with angels but he’s worth it.

The trachy would kill me is it like noticeable or wake up and it’s dead? Maybe you can try a cage around it and train him

It’s noticeable and slow - nips at them until they start dying. I do have another tank so I moved it and it’s happy. I kept a clear cage over it for a while but the minute I took it off he was back at it.

i think if i ever see them for sale again i’ll attempt a species specific tank just for it (to hopefully be able to actually see it) and possibly gain info to contribute toward it since they’re still pretty un common in the hobby (at least where im from)

Seen some recommendations for Flame Angels, I had one that was a complete jerk (bully and coral nipper). Had a Coral Beauty for a while that was a pretty well behaved, but now I have an African Flameback that is my favorite of the Angels that I have owned. Doesn't bother much of anything and eats Green Hair Algae to boot. IMHO it's a great alternative to those wanting a Flame Angel:

I have been looking at getting back into the hobby over the last year. I even have almost all the equipment. THIS is one fish I will have.
