I bought this as a Melanurus and just assumed it was maybe changing colors or something but the more I look at it and pics online. I can't seem to find any that have like those black vertical stripes down the body. He's tough to photograph so not the best pic.

Any opinions?

It’s a Halichoeres species for certain but can you get any better photos?
I recognise the species but it’s name isn’t coming to mind for some reason.

I wish it was that colorful lol. I'll try getting better photos after work. He's quick so it gets tough. The photo in the bag was just too blue to see the colors.

In the bag but it was heavy blue lights at that point. I'll get more pics this evening. Thanks for the help!

I believe this is a Halichoeres binotopsis

Yeah, I believe that's spot on. (Two spots, really) I think binotopsis is the only Halichoeres displaying 2 dorsal spots as well as the vertical banding under the striping.
