Reef2reef fam,

I am looking for a red Gigantea anemone, it's a long shot. But you miss every shot you don't take right?

I know they are rare and are considered a diamond in the rough. I have a budget of $7,000-$8,000 depending on the specimen. I am an experienced reef/anemone keeper for over 20 years. Have a perfect home/spot for this one of a kind gig. Please let me know if you know of someone that is selling one or have a leads. Any help would be much appreciated. I consider this a lifelong goal/ bucket list. I am willing to fly out to verify if it’s a true gig.

Thanks reef fam

Interested where you got that 7-8000 number from? I also am always on the hunt for some rare gigs and large anemones but very hard to find any info on red ones especially sale prices. Good luck with your search! Currently nursing this bleached blue gig back to health

I chose that number due to the difficulty tracking one down. It’s arbitrary really, but wanted to put the feelers out. At that number I figured someone would try to make the effort to bring one in for me. The search continues.

Love your large nems!

Thank you, good luck with your search! If you find one I might have to follow up and start putting out feelers myself. Maybe there’s enough of us in the community to grab an importers attention. Lmk how the search goes!

Vitabella, I know this is a late reply, (I'm hunting any neon green, blue, purple gig, one given up on red). But the only person I know who has one is John, @gig 'em . But John can correct me here but some believe it's a hybrid due to how rare they are. But it's a gorgeous piece. If you haven't seen his post about it or read the reef breeders John sorkness god of the gigs you should check it out.

Thanks @MikeyA , I know John and he has a beautiful collection. His red gig is beautiful!

I’m not giving up, I have put the feelers out there to many high profile suppliers. I’m sure something will show up soon.
