Hello and welcome to this thread! This is my first tank and I had a super, super tight budget for it so sorry if I do something wrong! I am also new to this and have only had this tank for maybe a month or two.

Welcome aboard! You could try starting a go fund me page, but most of us already spend all our spare coins on the hobby! Welcome aboard, you are in great company here. Can't wait to see the pictures!

8/3/2018 - 8/5/2018 I just got my Fluval Evo 13.5 from my LFS Southern Aquatics. (Great LFS to go to in Georgia!!!) I added Bio-Spira to help it cycle. (I am very impatient!) Then on 8/6 the water cleared up. (Did I mention I used CaribSea Arag-Alive sand? It's great.)

I also take pictures of this with my 6 year old I-pad mini. So don't ask why the quality is so bad.

8/12/2018 I got the first things in the tank: An ocellaris clownfish, fire fish, and common purple/pink hammer coral. (I love Euphyllia now!)

8/18/2018 I finally got more live rock!!! This time from a fish store named Pure Reef. (Another great fish store in GA!) The rock probably weighs around 15-25 pounds in total. I also got 3 free cabbage leathers! (So cool!)

(Somewhere between late August and late late August.) The hammer coral died because I did something very dumb. Nuisance algae was slowly growing and I put the hammer in my brother's 3 gallon. Buy forgot to... ACCLIMATE IT!!!!! I still feel dumb for it and also feel like we all make a mistake like that. (I mostly feel dumb.) R.I.P First Coral 8/2018 - 8/2018. May you forever live on in our hearts.

8/30/2018 - 9/1/2018 I went to my grandma's house for a couple days and went to Optimum Aquarium. (Another great fish store in GA!) It was my first time here so I might as well give a review. There are very knowledgable people there and they have tons of fish in freshwater, brackish water, and saltwater. <--- Ding! I ended up picking up a yellow clown goby (SO CUTE) but when I came home it was unusually filled with nuisance algae. It was never like this before. It didn't harm the fish but it did with the coral. It wasn't that big of a deal at the time so I left it alone.

I also got a small CUC with 5 Astrea Snails and 5 mixed hermit crabs somewhere in between that.

Mid september to almost october. I realized that this "nuisance algae" bloomed and it is all over the tank as of now. I need to get rid of it. I've tried taking off algae manually, not feeding as much, etc. I even got a protein skimmer that apparently doesn't even fit in my all-in-one chamber!

Question: I think the algae problem is the flow. I don't have much flow and haven't tried it. I would be looking for something maybe around 400 GPH (536 MAX and 270 MINIMUM.)

My friend, watch out with the overstocking and impatience. It seems like you added your fish so fast after each other. Let the tank mature and let it build a solid bio filter than can handle the increase in bioload. You don’t want to crash it :)

Ummm....I could be wrong but to me it looks as if that red stuff all over your tank is cyanobacteria and the tank needs to be treated for it....anyone with more knowledge and experience please feel free to chime in if I am wrong....

I'm pretty sure it is cyano. I will get something for it. Any recommendations?
