Does the small black spot on the fins underneath mean my yasha is a male? I need another pistol shrimp because mine seems to have disapeared, and the LFS store is only willing to sell their current one with its goby friend. The yasha at the LFS is labeled as female so I could pair them up. Their pistol shrimp is also female so if my missing male shrimp turns up they should be fine.

I don't know how to identify these, and I don't how this one identifies, either. So many questions with any answer accepted in some places these days.

Lets call this a bump. Good luck with finding that match!

Lol fair enough. But to be clear there are only two options for sex in this case, male or female. Genders are a whole different thing, whether you believe in just two or a whole infinite spectrum. Those are seperate from biological sex.

Yeah I found that exact post. But the male in that pic and every other pic I found had a much darker and more prominent spot than mine so I wanted to ask for more opinions.
Why did you reject my opinion then? :face-with-hand-over-mouth:

I have a strong feeling your boy is a man! They probably retouched the examples to highlight the character.
