Hi all,

A week ago I bought 2 toadstool leather corals one green and another yellow and white. My yellow/white toadstool closed up after 5 days of being open completely. At first I was thinking it was beginning its shedding process but not all polyps have retracted. Some are still semi extended while other parts are closed. During the "shedding process" my green star polyp colony on top of upright branch coral closed up. Both have been in this state for 2 days. All perameters have been steady for past 2 months. Lighting also crossed my mind, however I have 2 redsea reef 90's at 50% blue and 16% white and only a 3 hour peak so I doubt thats involved as the coral opened up fully 5 mins after being in the tank. Have a 3 hr moonlight cycle and a 10 hr dark photoperiod. Curious as to what we think. As you can see the other toadstool is doing great.

Redsea Max E-260 (75 gal water volume)

Amonia - 0
Nitrite - 0

It could possibly be your flow. I have a toadstool I’ve been fighting with for the past three months. I finally seemed to have found a high enough flow spot for him

Hes in an odd flow spot frankly. I have a redsea reefwave gyre across the tank and hes in direct line of fire its 2 minutes forward and 2 mins reverse so he goes from little flow to high flow every few mins... The green toadstool thats fully opened gets more balanced flow. Anyone thing the hi/lo is irritating it?

I’m in a similar situation. I’ve had a finger and toadstool almost a month no issues. Then they both closed up and haven’t changed yet for a couple of days now. No issues with other leathers in tank. I don’t think flow is an issue because they’ve been fine. I’m hoping it’s just a phase like everything I keep reading.

I have been miving him around every few days trying to find a spot where the polyps will at least stay semi open... just found a new spot bes warming to over the past 2 days... Polyps semi out but havent retracted... I might have to settle on the new spot we will see
