I purchased a Yellow Coris Wrasse about a month ago and until yesterday I have only seen it in the tank once. Yesterday I noticed it's tail sticking out of the sand so I gently brushed the sand away and the fish swam up into the WC a few inch's and then darted back into the sand. I did notice that it was really skinny. I am wondering if I see it again what should I do, I am thinking of placing it in my frag tank and trying to get it to eat? The frag tank is bare bottom though.

something in the tank is scaring it into hiding-any ideas what?

Definitely try and get him some food, but moving him into the frag tank may just restress him all over and not help- but worth a try. Have a green coris in my BB frag tank, and he's never shown ill because of it-but he does get pleanty of food taking it from my corals that are getting target fed.

Some other fish is harassing it. I lost a leopard wrasse the same exact way. It will just die in the sand if it continues. I have my yellow wrasse in my temp system with no sand bed. I just have a tupperware container with my clams in it that he sleeps in. I would put it in the frag tank with a container of sand.

I would put him in your frag tank until he is eating. This is another reason why quarantine tanks are a must. It just gives the new fish a few weeks to get settled and start eating without the stress of other fish.
