To give an update I stopped after work and got live blood worms, ROE, & two bottles of pods. She did not go for any live food but she has been very actively hunting & eating off the rocks. She did sit down on the rocks once so far over the last hour that I’ve seen for 30secs or so but seems to already be swimming more actively & definitely picking at the rocks and at more actively. I have two 16oz bottles of pods being shipped from dinkins which is the mixed species but wanted to add something in for the mean time to make sure she had at least some to eat if my population had bottomed out.

Also want to throw this out there because I know text styled messages can be hard to interpret sometimes. I am in no way trying to argue or dismiss anyone who has taken the time to reply to my thread. If I knew exactly what was going on I wouldn’t have made the post! I appreciate everyone who has taken the time to share their thoughts, inputs, & advice! My responses are purely with the intent to have discussion, learn, & try to figure out what is going on with my favorite fish so I can get her back healthy & living her best life! Thank you all 🙏🏻 💜🤝

Allow to settle in yet and lower white lighting a little for about 3 days keeping them secure. Seeking food is good. Some enticers are LRS fish frenzy and live brine shrimp. It should have gone for the worms though

I’ll pick up some fish frenzy tomorrow at the lfs & live blood worms are the only live food i can get from either of the lfs in my city, but I’ll hit facebook tonight and see if i can find anyone selling live brine

You might try hatching out live baby brine shrimp.

Be careful, a number of people end up being allergic to bloodworms:

Bloodworm (chironomid larvae) allergy is a common, often delayed hypersensitivity among fishkeepers, anglers, and fish farmers, causing reactions in roughly 20%–36% of regularly exposed individuals. Symptoms include asthma, hives, itchy eyes, rhinitis, and severe anaphylaxis, primarily triggered by hemoglobin in the larvae's exoskeleton.

Oh wow thanks for the heads up! Also a hypothetical for you. Could my tamarin be playing possium? It started this behavior the same night I added an orange back fairy wrasse. There has been zero aggression between the two but this is the first time I added a new fish since adding the tamarin?

He is definitely on the thinner side but he still has a visually thicker, albeit not massively, belly directly behind the gills before the tail starts halfway down his body. I feel like if he was emaciated he would be shrunken in for this portion of his body? Maybe I’m wrong I’ve never seen a emaciated fish in person before

Understanding how different fish react to one another is difficult to predict. Sometimes, aggression is not "overt" - you may not see actual fighting, just subtle intimidation. So, I can't rule that out completely, but I don't think that is the case here.

I see, I had came across some stuff online about wrasse doing that & didn’t know if that potentially could be the case due to the behavior starting with the new fish addition, the inconsistency of him doing it sometimes & then having completely normal behavior the majority of the day & the no physical change in his body size or shape.
