I purchased three white 55 gallon hdpe buckets that held red wine vinegar. I thoroughly rinsed them outside with a hose and used baking soda as well. After all the washing there was a light vinegar smell but I wasn't very concerned because of how well I cleaned them.

I mixed salt in all three buckets and there is a slight yellow film on the top of the water.

What is it? Is the water safe to use? The water doesn't smell funky and the alk is testing fine at 7.6.... it's aquaforest reef salt. I've used the salt before in my regular mixing barrel without issue so it's not the salt.

My Ro is putting out 0 Tds.

I'm planning on upgrading to a 180 tomorrow, been planning for months.... there's a 150 gallons of this water ready to go. Stakes are pretty high here.

Thoughts?

I wouldn't be concerned from the perspective of the container, but some folks have had issues with Aquaforest salt.

Overall, I would just ignore it if the salt meets your normal test specs. :)
