Yellow fish for 250L tank

Hi everyone,

I’m wanting to add a yellow fish to my Reefer 250, ideally as a centrepiece. I’d love a yellow tang but know it’s too big for my size tank even though I know I’ll buy a bigger tank in a few years time. I love my hermits and snails so don’t want something that will eat them. I’ve also had a Midas blenny in the past which I loved but would like something different.

Any recommendations would be very much appreciated :)

2 clowns

Blue cheek goby
2 clown goby’s
Mandarin
Urchin
3 hermits

Not many yellow fish come to mind besides yellow tang, diameda dottyback(not all yellow), yellow damsel

Very similar to Midas, I’ve never seen one for sale so don’t know how easy they are to get.

Dont think its too big I had one in my 100

A yellow Coris wrasse is about as bright yellow as you can get but your tank size is right at the minimum recommended for it.

Yellow Assessor is great but they don’t like bright lights. I only see mine in the morning before they kick on.

If you know you're upgraded I'm not sure there is an issue with a yellow tang. I'd probably do it, again, if I knew I was upgrading.

A yellow Coris wrasse is about as bright yellow as you can get but your tank size is right at the minimum recommended for it.

I have one in my Reefer 250 and wish I could catch him to pull him out. Mine seems super cramped and breaks corals every time he gets spooked.

If you know you're upgraded I'm not sure there is an issue with a yellow tang. I'd probably do it, again, if I knew I was upgrading.

I’d get a tiny one from Biota if I did get one, so it would take a little while to grow. I’d definitely go for a bigger tank in the near future, just want to keep upgrading :)

I just got a 3 piece tang gang of yellows from biota. They were all an inch, maybe 1.25".

Plenty of time to grow into your upgrade :)

also noteworthy, they will come PALE. Mine are coloring up nicely, and other members here report the same. But it was a little shocking, kinda skinny, definitely pale.

I am very happy with mine.

not saying you should do it, ur tank has nothing to do with me i don't have a say in what goes in ur tank or what does not go in ur tank but on the UK forum many many people have tangs in smaller tanks than recommended i have seen them in 2x2ft cubes the whole "tang police" thing is an american thing

My Tang is now too large for my 100. It intimidated the others and I now have to target feed to keep it from not being nasty but just like a big dopy fish pushing my much smaller fish out. \this results in overfeeding and the problems associated with doing so. I am not American just logical . I don't want to say more in light of recent developments even though want to . These people on this site are pretty cool
