wow- I see mucus cones and bacterial issue here, both likely triggered by a skin irritation which tangs are prone to. What is ammonia and nitrate reading and how are you testing? In addition, any other fish in tank and how do they look?

Hi, yes, it's the only one, and apparently the others are fine. There are two damselfish (one elly and one sergeant major), two clownfish, two mandible gobies, two diamond gobies, and one cherub angelfish. Just two days ago, I checked the parameters, and ammonia and nitrite were both 0, but nitrate is above 50 ppm. I use API tests. I saw it active and eating the day before, and it woke up like this.

The discoloration surrounded by mucus could indicate a severe bacterial disease.

To you have a hospital tank and an antibiotic available?

The fish has passed away :( . As a preventative measure, I started administering metronidazole 500mg every two days for three days to avoid possible infection. I'd like to know why this happened, since the day before it was healthy, active, and eating normally. All I did last night was add 10ml of Seachem Pristine and 10ml of phytoplankton. That's all I did, and it was like this the next morning.

Sorry to hear.

Metronidazole does not have a very broad spectrum of antibiotic activity, especially for external ones. I was speaking more of a gram negative one like neomycin or kanamycin.
