It's probably the safest med there is to use on a fish, so I advocate it's prophylactic use in QT. :)

Ok so now that i have copper in the system n recently bought the yt i have to wait another 30 days... Got tht! When the 30 days are up how do I introduce prazipro? Do I run carbon to remove the copper or Do i have to change the entire water? And what do i do with the polyfiber in my filter that finally has good bacteria, do i have to throw that away and use a new ones [emoji30][emoji30]? I also have bioballs in there, are those ok to stay in? I knw how to ise prazipro itself because of another post you put up :)

Hey there! I'm back. So, you can just do a regular water change and run Carbon to strip the meds out of the tank. Carbon first then a water change, but leave the carbon in there for a day. When your ready to start the prazi, take the carbon out.

Do you do the prazi as directed on bottle? I've been told that this is really a low and sometimes ineffective dose.

I dose as per the instructions - 1 teaspoon per 20 gallons. Works fine most of the time. ;) Every now & then I will encounter a prazi resistant strain of flukes, and for these I administer a formalin bath and then move the fish to a new, "clean" QT. Rinse & repeat a week later. Hyposalinity also works on Capsalidae (only), the most common flukes found on SW fish, eggs & all. :)

I don't advise ever overdosing Prazipro, especially with wrasses & anthias. Seen too many deaths after people doing that. An alternative to using Prazipro is "API General Cure". This medication contains both praziquantel and metronidazole in powder form. General Cure is safer to mix with other meds because it does not contain Oxybispropanol (found in Prazipro) which can cause bacterial blooms if mixed with certain other meds (like CP).

Ok so add the carbon for at least a full day before i do a WC right? Then let the carbon run until im ready to dose the prazi? And dnt worry about the things in my hob filter?

I just do a 25% WC and then dose Prazi again (5-7 days after the initial dosage.) I only run carbon after all meds have been completed.

You can use Prazipro along with Cupramine, it's been proven to be safe and dropping copper in the middle of treatment or before the end of copper treatment period is not recommended

Mostly safe, except sometimes a mild bacterial bloom can occur. The biggest problem is the presence of copper reduces praziquantel's overall effective. It has still always been enough to get the job done IME though.

So your done with 30 days copper and ready to dose prazi? You got it. You dont have to worry about any lingering copper that might be in the filter, though I wouldn't expect much to hang around. They wont react poorly with each other. Carbon and water change then start your prazi when your ready. Just remove the carbon when your ready :)

Yes good idea. It wont hurt to strip the copper out. Copper is a poison at it's heart so yeah... dont have them in it longer than you need them to be. Let them get back to eating and start the prazi. No reason to rush at this point.
