Does anyone know the status of the yellow tang ban? Feel free to drop recent articles on the matter below. I don’t know much I just entered the hobby and when I thought about getting one I found out about this

I've seen wild ones around $200-250 lately, quite the drop from the 400-500 they commanded a few months ago.
They have captive bred ones which look decent, so id imagine the price does not go up from here for the wild ones. As far as status, the Hawaii ban is still in place as far as I know.

This is the latest news:

However, don't expect Yellow Tangs to become real cheap again any time soon. The price of them was already on the rise due to COVID and cost of shipping and so on. Even before the ban they were $70-$100.

You can get one for $150 here: https://shop.thebiotagroup.com/collections/cultured-fish/products/hawaiian-yellow

Between COVID, bans and regulation of livestock, and hype... the cost of this hobby is ever increasing in both live stock and hardware. But then again so most everything else in life right now.

lol very strange. Error?

I saw a LFS here with a bunch of yellows. They were too large to be captive bred. Not sure if they had them left over or if someone was getting out of the hobby and brought them in or such.

Supposed to be here Tuesday! When i hit $200.00 on the order a pop came up and was offered a freeby. Yellow tang was one of them. I did not want to set up a quarantine tank, but for a free yellow tang at this point it time--I will! :) I had a credit on file, so pretty good order for about $200 total.

Fed Ex will probably come by December--that's their idea of priority overnight--so I probably won't get anything for free.... They're NEVER on time at my house. The last two orders, came in after two days--end of the day. UPS comes by 10:00AM. I swore off Fed Ex but the sellers have honored guarantees. Still try to avoid sellers with Fed Ex.

my LFS sells the BIOTTA tank raised yellow tangs for $160. They have like 5 of them in right now. The littlest ones are darn near transparent still.

Hope it is real!! I think I worry that this is like an old random freebee and they forgot Yellow Tang on the list as it used to be common stock.
