Yellow tang skin

Good morning, I just started with my very first saltwater tank about 1 and half month ago. I just bought a yellow tang from a local store last Friday but I have been noticing that he is acting different. He started hiding behind the rocks and eventually was constantly in one of the tank’s upper corner close to the surface. I am new to this but I have noticed that his skin seems somewhat grayish and with some dark spots throughout the body and I don’t like it. Can anyone tell me what might be happening to him? Hard to tell with the lighting but to me it looks like some kind of fluke parasite, probably skin flukes. Is he flashing on anything or swimming sideways? Try freshwater dipping him and seeing if the potential flukes fall off. If severe, a quarantine tank and fallow period may be important.

This sounds like my royal gramma before he died. This is likely flukes and you want to treat this quickly. These diseases go south fast. Make sure you don’t add anything else for a while if you plan to, until you are certain the parasites are gone. Parasites are common on new tangs, as they don’t have a thick mucous coat like other fish, and are often wild caught.

Sounds like the typical black spot tang disease. Assure water quality us good and give it a freshwater water dip and treat with praziPro or Ruby Rally pro

What do his gills look like? Are they darkened and inflamed?

What are your tank parameters, ammonia/nitrite/nitrate/PH? Tangs are very sensitive, that's why they are not the best choice for a very young tank. At 1.5 months your tank is probably not fully cycled yet.

Can you post some pictures with white lighting?

Hard to see much with the heavy blue.

Could be flukes. Do you QT your fish? Do you offer nori on a clip daily? A RSR170 is rather small for a tang as well.
