Hey R2R!
Just wanted to say Hi.
Last time I had an aquarium was when I was a kid. I've been wanting to start up a saltwater tank for a few years; with some encouragement from family and a co-worker who are seasoned tank owners I'm finally doing it!
I've got a 20g long and nice little stand my co-worker hooked me up with.
Planned build list so far:
-Eheim Pro4+ 250
-Theo 100watt heater (2)
-Live rock from local fish store
-Live sand (white) - any specific suggestions? I was originally thinking black (Arag-Alive Hawaiian black) but from what I've read I may just stick to white.
-Instant Ocean Synthetic Sea Salt Reef Crystals
-Current Orbit Marine LED lights

Aside from the additional test kit, hydrometer, canopy, etc... am I missing anything to get my cycle going?

Looking forward to journey - I will definitely post pictures as I go.

*suggestions on a powerhead?

Welcome to R2R!!!

A refractometer and calibration fluid will save you a lot of headache regarding salinity.

Also on a smaller tank, an ATO (auto top off) is an incredible thing. I got the Smart micro ATO and it's pretty much fool proof.

And PATIENCE!

Welcome home, you will love it here!

Keep us posted with your progress! :)

awesome, thanks guys! I'll check out the Ecotech powerbeads.
An ATO is definitely something on my list after the tank has been up for a while. The bottom of my stand is open and the tank is in our living room so I have to keep things tidy. Might have to get creative with a reservoir.

Welcome to R2R.
