Well today was scary as my tank somehow got up to 87. Not sure what malfunctioned but everything seems fine now luckily.

I did put up the other too small shelf so it does look a bit better.

Had I not put up the second shelf above the sump and dropped a screw in the water I may not have caught it.

When fixing everything yesterday I also cleaned my overflow. There were some massive aiptasia. Also look how many amphipods I saved.

My heater + temp reader malfunctioned sometime in the summer of 2012. The only que i had something was wrong, my pirple tang was swimming like her tail was on fire. Tank was at 84. I still lost a few coral, many bleached.

Ever since. Ive had corner mercury thermometers. In the sump, i just have trust issues with digital crud.

Thanks. I was thinking I should get a back-up. I do use an alcohol but don't check it enough. The heater was purposefully undersized but I guess it was plenty powerful. I guess I'm very lucky with the coral.

Hopefully you had no losses. The healthier everyone is, the easier they recover. Sounds like things are happy in there!

I got two fish gifted to me today but unfortunately I'm not sure this blue flasher will make it. Looking pretty weak sadly.

I see a lot of wrasses (on these forums) in poor shape after shipping.

Do you think they beat themselves up in the bag possibly?

I know some get injured or just don’t handle stress well. Tamarin, leopard, and pencils in particular. I did get two very healthy wrasse last week.

I do hope the wrasse recovers. Beautiful fish. One of my favorites for flashers. These issues they have, have kept me from getting another blue flasher.

It's not uncommon for sand burying wrasses to beat themselves up during shipping trying to bury themselves in the bag.

Shipping is stressful to all fish

Just one. Managed to cancel the second. It looks a little underweight to me. So might not have been healthy to begin with.
