just heard this from a distributor that was close to them
and had spoken them just before the flite:
Alex Ploeg, Secretary General of OFI (Ornamental Fish International), his wife Edith, their son Robert, and friend Robbin were tragically lost in yesterday's Malaysian Airline crash. The airplane they were traveling on was shot-down over the Ukraine on Thursday. we offer you to join the entire global ornamental fish community in offering condolences to Alex's family and to the OFI team upon this tragic loss. Alex and his wife will be missed by OFI and the global ornamental fish community.

I heard this as well. Terrible tragedy. This whole situation makes me very sad for those affected.

there was also a prominent AIDS scientist aboard
and a girl that was related to someone that died in the"lost" Malaysian flite from earlier this year...
