I really like sand sifting gobies.

Is having one in 30 gal aquarium with 20lbs of aragonite a bad idea?

Should I rather get YWG and pistol shrimp pair?
(I understand that YWG doesn't sift sand but still is a cool critter to have)

Would those be OK with fire (blood) shrimp that I am planning on getting later?

Thanks.

I would choose the YWG over a sand sifter in that size tank. Both will be fine with the shrimp.

I was more concerned about pistol shrimp and fire shrimp getting together rather than gobies.

I am afraid that shrimp goby pair would build a burrow where I can't see them at all. But I might them a chance :)

I would get the YWG/pistol pair. No problems with the pistol and a future fire shrimp together. My pair would rotate between several entrances so I could always see them. I read somewhere that the tiger pistol was the natural shrimp to pair with the watchman. My tiger was out much more than the candy stripe I have now.
