Zero nitrates

I have to dose nitrates ( NeoNitrate) as my refugium ( chaeto) sucks up nitrate and was at 0.0 for a while - this def effected coral growth and colors. Phos is around .08 but if I didn’t dose nitrate despite heavy feeding - would bottom out

Makes sense. If you are an experimenting type, you might try dosing ammonium bicarbonate and see if that does anything better than simple nitrate dosing.

I've been following your posts about dosing ammonium bicarbonate .... will def look into that once my supply of NeoNitrate runs low.... from what i've read, it is both less expensive and potentially more beneficial. Thanks for the input !

This thread was perfectly timed, thank you. My nitrates have been reading 0.0 on my HANNA HR Nitrate checker for about 5 weeks now.

I will look into dosing nitrates, everything seems happy in my tank, but coral growth has slowed down. (Think the macros are using up the nitrates).
