Hey guys,

Starting a build thread for my new tank.

Want somewhere to track the progress over next few years

Currently been reefing on and off for 17 years (I’m early 30’s now).

A little bit about me, Scottish Born and raised, move to Australia in 2020 to Tasmania. Recently moved with the wife to Newcastle, Australia and bought the “forever” home…..

The forever home needs the dream reef.

Suspect the tank will be arriving this week,

Custom S3 Cade classic 2200 - 2200x800x800

86.6” L x 28” W x 31.5” H - Inhabitable display

Back chamber of display is gravity fed ATO

1250 litres display

330 US gallons display

SUMP - estimate 225 litres

Plan for the tank is to fill it with softies, large Angels and Tangs

1x300w heater (10+ years old)

2x UK hydro wave makers (10+ years old)

1x auto aqua ATO

Octo 110 skimmer

And full of rock from old tank which will be going into new Cade

Currently Housing

2x Clownfish - spawns of Satan

1x Very fat Tomini Tang

1x Magnificent Foxface

Will commence medication once New tank has started the cycling process as need somewhere for rock to go.

Coral QT:

Very poor DIY acrylic sheet condensation covers
IMG_7613.jpeg

Ended up getting nano Autoaqua ATO to feed Cade 600 gravity ATO, so I don’t have to fill each week

Cade 600 frag

Reefmatt 500 (had from old build)

Heater 2x 300w with INKBIRD temp control

2x ai Nero 3s

Wow great setup. Please do a biotope! I’m dying for people to do them more often. Imagine a Red Sea biotope with a group of purple tangs, huge school of wreck anthias, magnificent foxface and Red Sea regal angel pair.
Or French Polynesian tank.
Whitetail tangs, group of scopas, hippo tang, pink anemone fish/ orange fin clarki, pair of longnose hawkfish…..
To me these would looks so good, and I’d love to see someone do them.

Tank got delivered today.

First up was the stand, it came off the truck very easy, and rolled straight into the garage no issues.

Wifey with the stand in garage

Next up the aquarium, which was a total PITA.

Cade had made the pallet legs underneath the box 1cm to narrow resulting in the pallet jacket not being able to get under the box in the truck.
Therefore the delivery driver had to hammer and chisel the pallet legs completely off to get the pallet jack underneath….

But then the next obstacle. Driver couldn’t move it himself as too heavy lol

I had to help out

20260318_141355_20306D30-D468-42BB-8B96-CD5FFE7FB0CD.png

20 mins later it was in the garage!

Next problem arises…..
Pallet jack got stuck underneath the pallet leg that had to be smashed up to get it off the truck lol.

IMG_7962.jpeg

15 mins of chiseling pallet leg stump and wiggling the aquarium.

And it’s FINALLY inside the garage, on the floor

IMG_7987.png

As you can see I’m pretty stoked.

IMG_7971.jpeg

IMG_7970.jpeg

As you can see, a lot of fortification in the back ATO due to the extra height
IMG_7974.jpeg

Lastly obligatory pic of my big baby Jett next to new tank

Iv seriously underestimated how big this tank is.

Next challenge, getting it into the house

Wish me luck!

She’s finally in place!!

It took 7 of us 90 minutes to get it in place.

Worse part was trying to get the tank
Through the door which has a tile step that is 820mm wide, when tank was 800mm wide

Have learned the hard way, that 30+” deep tanks are a pita when drop things in back ATO chambers.
Had to get the wife to fish out spirit level

Have all week off work with annual leave……

Hoping to have the tank cycling by Friday!

My 100GPD RODI is taking ages.

Purchased my OCTO 300 INT skimmer last year Black Friday sales, forgot how massive it really is lol

20260407_222414_FEFA7D5C-4944-4D12-89CA-5B026EA66A27.png

Today I installed skimmer, INKBIRD + 2x 500W aqua one titanium heaters, Vectra M2 return pump and AI blade refugium blade light.

Had to make sure the cables were tidy, if I don’t do it now, it’ll never get done ha

Below is a few sump pics as it’s dry

Nothing exciting happening,

Cycle started yesterday,
60ml of DR Tim’s ammonia + 16oz One and only and half bottle of Fritz bacteria

Hoping it won’t be too long!

Fish QT finishes 30 days of copper in 2 days, then it will be transitioning to prazi for 2 doses

Reefs weren’t the most colourful but absolutely stacks of fish

Tank has finally cycled!
Parameters today were:

API ammonia 0ppm
Red Sea ammonia 0.00pm
Hanna p04 0.04ppm
Hanna no3 9.6ppm

All fish that have finish QT were moved to new system, can’t move coral from QT, still got to buy lights
