ok here are my numbers. consistently too high on the phos and nitrates. do you think that why im losing gonis?
sal.-1.025, phos. .45, nitrate-47.1, alk.-8.5, cal.-490. i dose a kh buffer, AFR and some expensive manganese that was supposed to be good for them.

Gonis are very sensitive. If they were thriving then all of them randomly started dying at the same time you noticed the high nutrients, then thats probably why.

I love the gonis but this is why I have not wanted to try them yet, I have seen people who have better tanks than mine in terms of parameters and with much more experience and from one day to other they lose the gonis

no thats not really how it was. ive had those high numbers for several weeks now. and i just started losing some gonis. light almost literally overnight. the one was my biggest and favorite:confounded-face: it looked great one day and mostly gone the next! so random. and then some of the others are still looking good.....

none at all except for that little rash i mentioned a couple of days ago. someone had told me that they think my rocks are phos bound. thought id try some PhosGuard if you think thats a good idea. :thinking-face:

Ya that would address the phosphates but nitrates also need to be addressed. It could be as simple as less import and more export. I would not do anything especially if all the other corals are doing well until someone with experience with gonis chimes in. I have seen beautiful sps dominant tanks on here that run nutrients higher than yours.

Hmm... okay. Like others have said, gonis are very hard to keep. Sorry.

Read what I wrote above. Make sure you don’t make any changes to fast. Honestly I would be worried about making changes for one coral if all the rest are happy but maybe you can find medium that pleases all bu again make changes slowly.

I ordered an ato and some different wavemakers that I think will be better because they have different settings where as the current ones don't. I'm still debating a doser might just stick to doing it manually once I figure out what I need to dose.
