Are there any mechanical engineer types among us?

I’m asking because I have an idea for a ceiling mount for my new Meridian 43 and I want to bounce ideas off. But! I don’t want to clutter the SmorgsBoard with it.
My oldest son is a mechanical engineer specializing in design engineering. Message me and I’ll pass it along to him.

As a father, one of the coolest things you could ever say has to be, "my son is a mechanical engineer ".

Unless he said "my son owns *insert high end reef brand* who wants some free powerheads and lights!?!?!" But where that's not the case, then you are correct lol

My 25 year old daughter is a nurse practitioner but the coolest thing to say is my 22 year old son is an HVAC technician like Luis!

The trades are becoming a lot more fruitful nowadays. Most people want a office job/indoor air conditioner job so they are having to really incentivize the skilled labor trades.

Blue collar for life!! ;)

Wooow!! I had to look at that 10 times. There you go buddy. That is an amazing reef, one that I want to see way more of.
Thank you so much John! That means alot! I appreciate it!.

Where did you get your brittle star?
I got it from a local coral research facility. The owner is a super nice guy. I got 3 turbos, 8 trochus(?), 6 hermits (2 of which being Scarlet reef hermits) and one brown serpent star all for only 40 bucks!

Can a hammer coral go near the birdsnest? Sorry so many questions just trying to plan placement...
Probably already answered but no - it needs about 4" minimum between the two, more if you're allowing for growth.

That's awesome!!! I'm super jealous. I wish I knew of places like that around me. Makes me ALMOST(but not quite) want to move out of maine and live somewhere more reef friendly. Bubbles is the closest thing I got besides a few LFS that are all about the making money scene. Although the place i went to today, he's a old school reefer. Pretty smart but his knowledge is also very very dated. He's still living in 1991 and doesn't use the internet I think. Not that it's a bad thing but some of the stuff he says once in awhile make ya go hmmmm :grinning-face-with-sweat: still i payed way too much for 2 turbo snails and a cleaner shrimp

You know that they are calling his generation the tool belt generation because more of his generation is going into the trades than the previous ones. I think his generation sees all these people with huge student loans and a Bachelor of Arts degree in left handed puppetry working at McDonalds and say” na, no thanks.”
