Who is the plumbing guru of the group!?

I’m building my 125G still and bought a bunch of 1 inch plumbing parts to match my overflow. Rookie mistake, I didn’t confirm that my return pump (maxspect 10K ) only has attachments for 1 1/4 and 1 1/2 barb couplings.

I want to go from barb to pvc at the return to reduce friction. How can I reduce the pump down to 1 inch, I know it’ll kill flow but I should still have enough if I reduce down.

The top barb fitting attaches to the pump the same way as a union. With a nut threaded to the housing

Sounds like me. I am a Registered Nurse at the VA clinic here in Lansing, Michigan. I run my own clinic and my overseeing physician is in the VA at Battle Creek. Needless to say, I see a lot of Veterans everyday! I am beyond blessed to care for those who have served.

AND... I appreciate all the warm welcomes. I hope I may be able to contribute to this thread. Either with my sarcastic wit, dry humor or reefing advice.

If it's threaded, one can buy a reducer to match what they want to connect. If I'm reading that right anyway... It's early and the coffee hasn't kicked in yet!

Not familiar with the pump is it threaded to accept the barb fitting?
If so I’m assuming it’s 1.25 FPT on the pump itself so all you would need is this https://pvcpipesupplies.com/1-1-4-x-1-male-adapter-436-168.html

Well now I don't even know. I'm assuming it did because it just updated, and it's at my local ups facility. I guess there's a chance it'll come today!

Always better to reduce it at the source then further down the line

Thanks Luis, but I'm about as big a newb as it gets when it comes to plumbing. @tbrown is my go-to or @VintageReefer for tricky problems!
