What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Morning everyone, have a little fishing trip in the works for the next couple of days, but mother nature is going to mess it up badly. can't back out now. still going, I'll post some rain pic's ...lol (with sarcasm)
Good morning Jimmy, I hope the fish you catch make up for the rain.

Good afternoon everyone, had to rush my daughter’s dog for an emergency vet visit. At 5:00 am he began vomiting blood. I explained to the vet about my reef tank and the bjd thing and if I could pick up cipro if I needed it down the road. When I checked out a container with 20 500mg of cipro was waiting for me, I already had some but bought it anyway.

I'm sorry about the dog. The cipro though, that's awesome!

@kevgib67 Do you recommend that I treat the entire tank with Cipro or not?
Yes, 500mg per 20g, at night and with carbon removed and skimmer off. I’ve used it several times over the years without any detrimental effects to any of the tank inhabitants. The first pic is before I dosed it and the second is after, looks the same. 😉

But do you dilute it in RO water or do you add it directly and how much should I add and for how many days?

I put it in a cup of tank water, it falls apart fast. Stir it up and pour it in. I’ve only used one dose each time but I know a couple on here do multiple doses over days. I’m sure Keith will chime in again about his multiple dose schedule.

I snort giggled on that one! Nice work Kevin. I think the Cipro worked my friend!

For something like this rather than BJD, I'd dose like you advised Kevin. You can also just hold the tablet in front of a powerhead and rub it between your fingers.

so I just bought an elegance. should I place it on the sand or use a 2" PVC pipe to elevate it just above the sand? That's how I see all the pictures of them (PVC pipe).
I think the reason for the PVC is if the base isn't cut flat, they will keep tipping to one side.

@Rocks reef , your replys to that one thread has me thinking. is it just coincidence or not that i seem to be having some struggles corals ever since i moved a paly rock. i had put a piece of live rock into that small tank for the cbb to pick at for a couple of weeks. it had those green palys on it. when i tore the tank down i just put it down in the sump. those palys havent opened up since. just all closed up. could that possibly be a problem for my zoas?

Interesting. Is the sump lit? Are they the toxic green palys or the similar?
