Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Vinyl was out for the most part back then. I don't know that I would actually pay more than maybe fifty bucks for a used album. Vinyl is just too fragile; heat, poorly adjusted or cheap turntable; worn out needle; just plain number of plays; poor cleaning, etc. Seems like a weird market to me. Most of the vintage gear isn't any better than the current gear, a lot of it is much worse. There is some vintage gear worth the price but not much of it. High-end audio was always a little nuts but now it is usurious. 5k for a DAC, what planet do you need to come from to think that 50 bucks worth of hardware can ever be worth 5k?

It's the same as today's coral market. Have some indigenous person scrape a hunk of coral off of a reef and ship it to a distributor. Chop it into 50 pieces (colonies?), if it turns out to be pretty, break a few of the colonies into dozens of sub-pinky-sized frags, slap a fancy name on it and sell them for stupid prices.
Brother, I think you have to look at the consumer. For the most part it is the younger generations. We didn't grow up with vinyl. It was at best, something your older brother left in the top of the closet when he moved out. Growing up though, you hear this music your whole life, so it becomes your music too.

Now we have the luxury of listening to any song ever written in the highest quality any time we want. People my age and younger aren't impressed by that. It's basically what we were raised on. Digging through a bunch of old records and finding that gem and realizing it still has the poster or the original picture sleeve, that is the thrill.

Then you have the experience of dropping the needle and hearing that crackle right before Robert Plant or The Davies brothers start singing. It's a more authentic experience, and you want the entire vintage experience. To me it's no different than fixing up an older car or boat. It isn't the optimal experience for those modes of transportation, but it's a completely different way to enjoy them.

However, new vinyl makes no sense to me

I haven't been able to change the water lol, I went overboard with the amount of salt and I had to add more RO water to be able to balance it, I have to do it today because I don't think I can leave the water with its powerhead until tomorrow, has anyone done it? I mean keep mixing the water from one day to another

Priceless! You had blonde hair?
When I was a kid, although my hair is a bit strange, when I don't put anything to my hair it's brown and when I put gel on it or it gets wet it turns black

I have. I just cover it with a towel to keep junk out of it, don't heat it until a I'm ready to use it and keep the power head going. Never saw any negative effects but I'm sure it depends on the salt mix being used to some extent.

Thanks Tom, I think I'll do it now, my wife is going out with Jason to get something to eat and I have a window there so she doesn't scold me for spilling water on the floor lol

I’ve kept salt water for a month in a jug. The salinity sometimes goes up a point or two.

That makes a lot of sense.
