What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Um I don't think so... I don't test it often enough I guess...

If your pH is under 8 and won't increase you would want to do what you can to increase surface gas exchange to help lower the CO2 and increase pH. If your pH is around 8 or slightly over, you've got good enough gas exchange to keep your CO2 levels low.

As Luis mentioned, salt creep and splashed water droplets (as well as algae) will often make your glass lid less clear which can have drastic reduction on PAR for your corals so more frequent cleaning is necessary on glass lids vs screen or egg crate.

I will check my ph for the next few weeks to see what it's running. I hadn't thought about the glass blocking light which I should have because I know it can on my freshwater planted tanks. Maybe i can do a little experiment with that par app I downloaded and check with and without the lids to see what the difference is.

Will also heat the tank more

Why do some use screen instead of glass?
Don't use glass either.
Never have.
Maybe once.
Gas exchange at the surface without glass is what you're looking for.
Especially in saltwater.

Hey how is everyone doing? Anything exciting that has happed? I see we have made it to 2000!!!

I got a few questions. I went to my local petco that I never go to and they actually have a really nice saltwater section. I saw this snowflake moray eel for $70. I don’t think I would put something like this in my reef tank but setting up another tank for this eel could be awesome. How big of a tank would it need? If I was to set up a tank for this, would I be able to set it up and put him in immediately? Could I take 10 gallons of water for my big tank and put it into a different tank with some live rock and sand it it would be go to go?

Anyone have any experience with an eel?

I want another one. I want a peacock this time.
Although, I think the glass on the Waterbox I had Murderbug in will show to be too thin.

If it's thin then don't risk it lol, I've read that the force they attack is comparable to a 22 caliber bullet

I remember seeing an article that said if a person had the same arm movement, they could throw a baseball into outer space. not sure if that's true or not but that's what they posted.

Hey Parker good to see you young man!
How are you?
You were here on page one!!
I've never had a saltwater eel only freshwater.
I don't think they need that much room when young but I really don't know
Someone will chime in.

I only have one talent, I thought I would share.https://share.icloud.com/photos/0abhVPtheGEWmL66sWHNnqVeQ

I have a SF. currently on hunger strike. Been trying to get her eating again. was eating every 2-3 days but trying to find something else. It's possible she is taking down snails. I have 2 peppermint shrimps in there and no one touches them.

I have to find one (mantis) that can withstand my dottyback that killed Murderbug.

I’m doing great. Just got back from a ski trip. How have you been?

I still have one from Tampa. I haven't seen it out if forever but see it pull food into a tiny little hole once in a while. I think it can't get out. I hear the click once in a while.
