Would it be detrimental to my pico if I run the light maybe an hour in the morning, then turn off and then run the light again for the longer time frame? Just trying to have it on at optimal viewing time line breakfast/supper.

5am to 10 am and 2pm to 7 pm
In the morning a softer spectrum and full spectrum in the afternoon

Don't know how fast Zoa' grow, but here is a before and after, 3 months old. My first attempt at reefing back in the 90's, I never had any growth on anything, just slow death. I'm feeling a lot better this time around

My USPS delivery driver won't drive down my road because there's a mud puddle. It's almost mud season where the dirt roads get muddy and rough, but my road isn't there at all. It's still mostly frozen and my neighbor drives a Toyota corolla by my house everyday. They said they couldn't access the delivery location yesterday, and would try again next delivery day. Tried again today and said the same thing. I don't care if your scared to go down the road, we live in a rural area and you should have a vehicle that can go down our roads, but regardless, just hold it and tell me I have to come pick it up. How many days are we going to try this? To make things worse I can't get ahold of anyone to hold it for me so now I have to drive to the post office to tell them not to try again tomorrow because their driver still isn't going to want to go down my road... I should've spring for ups or fedex. I literally had a UPS truck plow through 12" of snow to deliver a package and usps won't drive through a puddle.... rant complete. Sorry I'm just grumpy

I'm kidding brother, I use epoxy for the "trickier" spots as well. It would have been hard to superglue that plug in to the crevice. Nice work! Torch looks great!! Nice and full

Question for the Smorgs...
If you cycled rock for your tank, did you have a light on it or just have the ambient light? Right now, mine isn't lit by anything except ambient light and maybe some light spill from the tank. It's been cooking for about 3 weeks now. When I first stated it, I used MB7 and Dr. Tims one and only, 5mls of Vodka. A week later I added two bottle of mixed copepods and dose 1ml of phyto daily and 1ml Vodka daily to feed bacteria. A week ago I tossed a couple snails in there like I was Michael Jordan sinking a 3 pointer, it was epic, who says white boys can't jump! I do drop two or three micro pellets of fish food in daily as well. Parameters are perfect, not worried about that. Any how... back to the light question.

If you cycled rock for your tank, did you have a light on it or just have the ambient light? Right now, mine isn't lit by anything except ambient light and maybe some light spill from the tank. It's been cooking for about 3 weeks now. When I first stated it, I used MB7 and Dr. Tims one and only, 5mls of Vodka. A week later I added two bottle of mixed copepods and dose 1ml of phyto daily and 1ml Vodka daily to feed bacteria. A week ago I tossed a couple snails in there like I was Michael Jordan sinking a 3 pointer, it was epic, who says white boys can't jump! I do drop two or three micro pellets of fish food in daily as well. Parameters are perfect, not worried about that. Any how... back to the light question.

No light, it does better in the dark so no nuisance algae starts growing.

Thank you, that was my thinking as well. However, I have seen mixed reviews. Some say light it a few hours a day but limit white light, while others say no additional light to discourage nuisance algae as you stated. I was hoping you'd chime in, so thank you Tim.

Won't the nuisance spring up once it is in the tank and have a "normal" light cycle? Sorry, this is my brain over analyzing things. I plan to cycle the rock until the tank arrives, which is another month or longer.

It may, but by then your not just growing algae for no reason, your also growing corals and potential have cuc and utilitarian fish.
