I think as long as they get into the sump and temp acclimate in bags you're good.

I figure temp swings and jostling around has to be the primary cause of death in shipping so I think I'll have to risk it and go that approach.

I think its my only possible option, short of calling out and losing a full days pay and having to figure out where to send my twl helpers last minute which I'm sure would upset the boss

Like I said my online live goods experience is minimal to none but that's a high profile company, most likely packed and shipped well and I think you have a good plan
You go to work, she'll put them in the sump, and you come home with a nice bunch of flowers.

I can have them held at ups, they are shipping from NJ. And they'll use heat packs. My wife can get them into the sump pretty promptly, and send me pics of anything that looks DOA. I'll just be working 1.5 hours from home

NJ was who hilled my order from RF. They held the stuff there for no apparent reason for 2 days. then froze. only thing that survived from my order was the mangroves. but this was also usps. and at least it's mid week. If you hold them there, will it be indoors? And how do they honor the arrive alive. do you need to inspect immediately and have a couple hours? Most likely they will all be closed up till you have them in the tank for a few hours. So unless they smell rotten on delivery.....

Also leaving them in warehouses and on frozen trucks too.

She just got severe deer in the headlight eyes when I started going over the procedure and basically said "I didn't sign up for that" plus, to be fair, she wouldn't know what a bad hitch hiker would look like

Quick question for you guys, maybe can help quell a bit of a sensitive topic for my wife and I :grinning-face-with-sweat: im supposed to get corals delivered tomorrow. Quite a few. That said I'm supposed to be out of town till 4 or so and they will probably get dropped off between 10-1. I geuss I didn't explain well enough what the process involved and the wife feels extremely overwhelmed. If I had her come home and inspect for DOA and just float the bags in my sump till I got home to dip and put them in the tank, would that most likely work out fine?

I did this and it worked well for me.

Yes that's a good description.
Fish doa is easy.
Corals a little tougher but sloughing, slimy, melting, grody all good words/descriptions.
I'm sure she'll do great.

the last order I had help at UPS was indoors. I think the entire store is heated. SBB says within 2 hours of pickup time to send pictures of them while still in the bag. They then have a 14 day guarantee as well. That said, I could possibly have her open the bags to smell any that don't look to be likely alive?

I'm planning to dip and put in my tank. That said, I would potentially be interested in buying it from you for a spot for my clowns. They keep spawning and harrassing everything else in the tank but my sump doesn't have a big enough chamber for them to live comfortably

I got 9 corals I ordered coming but they were 2 seperate orders that should ship together, that said, each order was supposed to get a free frag as well, idk if I'll get one or 2 where it's 2 orders that I got shipped together to avoid 2 shipping fees
