Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
I'm not ever going to get personal but I do know food so I can help if you have any questions.
I will know more about what I need to do after I get lab results back but I know my blood pressure is up so I'm looking for tasty alternatives to salt. I love salty snacks like chips so something similar that taste good would help. I also really like salmon so any good recipes for it or other fish that don't taste super fishy if that makes sense. Lol there is so much information on the internet about eating healthy and so many opinions it's hard to tell what's true info and what just a bunch of fluff...

My wife picked that one of the three I picked. I cant wait to see how it settles in! The purples a nice touch! I feel like my tank was missing it. That said I'll have to find a way to contrast it once my rocks start turning purple!
Your wife has excellent taste.

@kingranch2003 this is more accurate. Slightly less blue during daylights, but way closer than than the first picture that made it look really pink

I'm not super picky but I have some health issues that I need to get a handle on so I am trying to make small changes like walking during lunch more and making better food/snack choices.
Paying attention to your diet is the biggest thing! I got into going to the gym awhile back(I have since fallen off the wagon) and if you pay attention, and eat wholesome foods, it's wild how much you can eat. I was counting macro nutrients (protein, fats, carbs) and i often found myself short at the end of the day and super full. That said, it's wild when you start watching what you eat and see that the stuff and see that you were eating thousands of calories in one sitting... and when i say you, i really mean me :face-with-spiral-eyes: i have to really try not to eat poorly because I have a major weakness for junk food. You got this no problem Amanda! I liked making overnight oats for breakfast. High protein and really filling. More protein=more muscle=more calories burnt at rest=body starts to recomposition itself and all the good just accumulates!

Any bad issues with running it this high Tom?
None that I know of. I have had mine right around there a few times and everything looked happy but I generally run more toward 1400. When it got down to around 1100 for a while due to total neglect I had coralline dropping off the back wall and my montis were all looking horrible.

Thank you! I'll let her know! She also picked the 2 acans. I shared approximately 3 torches and 10 acans and she picked those three, the other 6 I got during the auction

I counted calories for several months once or twice before but it's hard to do when you are eating homemade food that doesn't really have a recipe.

The biggest thing, if it's wholesome real ingredients, your generally going in the right direction! Also, some salt is good, we need some for electrolytes. Iodized table salt is just the most common, and also the worst for you. I use Celtic salt

That was also my struggle. I generally find similar recipes and call that good enough. At least you know your close. I don't do it anymore although I'm considering it when i get back to the gym. A guy my size needs a lot of protein and I always came in under what I needed. One thing I found was some apps that count macros and calories also have recipes you can follow that will have the info already, all you have to do is make that recipe and enter the serving size!

Hi friends! Been a minute.
Happy Taco Tuesday

To be perfectly honest, the secret to becoming healthier through food is a total reset of the mind and your eating habits.
Losing snacks is first on that list along with eating for comfort, or stress or anxiety as well, which all of us struggle with.
Thus the term comfort food.
Before I started the diet I'm on, my blood pressure and pulse were not bad but not anywhere where I wanted them.
Now, both are low and my cholesterol is non existent.
Doctors love to say salt is bad, your cholesterol is high when in fact they have been wrong about cholesterol for many years.
I really started by eating less and only eating when I was hungry, cutting out snacks and sugar
I LOVE LOVE LOVE chips and cookies.
Those were the hardest ones for me but after a while the cravings go away.
I'm not the food expert by any means but this was THE start for me to getting healthy.
I've had skin issues my entire life and they are completely gone now.
It's been a long road but a blessing.
Whatever you need, I'm here just ask.
I'll do my best.

I feel that lol. Especially considering i can't cook to save my life haha
