I always like taking the kids to different aquariums. I went to a place in Grand Cayman and we actually got to hold sea turtles. Well worth it.

Whenever we go on vacation, if shall I say, I try to hit up whatever aquarium might be close.
I've really only ever been to a few but I did get to see the public aquarium in Germany when we were there 7,000 years ago it seems.
Neat place.

What in the world

yup, the nights are cold. CA is not what you think. the valley is hot. but not that area. summer...70 degrees with 40 degree nights. (great sleeping) and winter rainy but like 55-60 and down to 35. I returned home to that area once and a couple that was traveling with me to Oakland airport were so excited their first time going there and they were dressed in t-shirts and shorts. first thought was, you're going to freeze. yup, saw them on the BART platform shivering waiting for the train. you need a light jacket at night in summer. It's a dress in layer place.

I had an big Aiptasia growing inside my red lava rock cave where my butterfly couldn't reach it. I pulled the whole rock and dropped it in a five gallon bucket of 5% citric acid with my gyre alongside it. When I pulled them out all the formerly living material just sloughed off. I keep the citric acid in a bucket with a lid out back. Mixing new stuff up every time would add up. Saving it was my brother Ryan's suggestion.

Wow! Even after a bath in 5% citric acid?

Not very many but yes, even after an overnight in citric solution. Only ones that were nestled down into crevices made it though. I think they were able to hold onto enough internal moisture to survive.

that's cool. I went to one in Ireland. I also went to one in Stockholm that you had to climb up and down ladders like you were in a submarine. I also went to one in Crescent City that I think was an old boat. I like Boston since it is a walk around a large tank and you can see how and where the fish at different levels interact.

I've lived in a lot of places but settled in Maine. No way will I ever live in a state that does not border the ocean!

I put my powerheads in a one gallon bucket of hot water and vinegar.
Next day I hook them up and run them for a couple of days in the bucket then I take them out, clean them in lemon juice with a toothbrush and hot water.
Works great unless I forget to scrub.

insurance with hurricanes on the coast there is a lot of $. you've got lots of time still to figure out where you want to be. and will change over years. especially having kids later in life.

Busy day here at work but I just got a call from my doctor and my biopsy results from last week came back and it's not cancer! I was so relived I cried thank you all for praying for me! Love you guys tons!
