Oh, this is a long story that I think the ones who have been on here for a while don’t want to hear again, sorry Tim. When I was 24 years old, in school, I was diagnosed with primary sclerosing colangitis , an autoimmune disease that attacks your bile ducts in the liver. I was told there wasn’t a treatment and in 5-10 years I would need a liver transplant. I made it to 49 yo and it hit me like a train. 2 years in and out of the hospital, no solid foods for over a year with vomiting every day. My last stay in the hospital was over two months. Kidneys failed, dialysis. They talked about the doing a duel transplant. I got so critical they took me off the transplant list 3 times. When I would get stable they put me back on. After the third time I got the transplant. My disease put me at a 70% risk of colangio carcinoma so 10 after I had a follow up and was told she had good news and bad news. The bad news was the pathologist found stage two colangio carcinoma in the liver they removed and it has a tendency to come back aggressively with only a 30% survival rate. The good news was if they had found it before the transplant they wouldn’t have did it and I wouldn’t be alive. 6 months of chemo followed.
