Ive seen two of the smaller patches disappear quickly. I realized last night that I should turn the wavemaker off for a few hours at night. They did the most work last night after I did that. The first night was a noticeable difference too.
It looks like they're saving the biggest for last.

Yes, they are quite fragile. Ive heard it is best to lower the flow significantly at night.
