Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
The way I look at it, if my numbers on a magnesium test, repeatable and reportable, if it's not necessarily "accurate", the corals tell me if they're unhappy.

My Birdsnest was "dripping" from the tips (no skeleton) because I had high alk, good calcium, and low magnesium (per my at home kit). I started dosing magnesium and the tips not only stopped "dripping" but increased DRAMATICALLY in growth and branching.

My Anacropora was small and a tightly clustered bush. Since dosing magnesium (per my at home kit) it has started growing longer branches and branching more.

Montipora cap was growing slowly and drooping at the growth edges. Since dosing magnesium (per my at home kit) it has started plating outward AND growing ridges and even some small branches upward.

My Hollywood Stunner was growing without a skeleton on the growth edges and "cascading" down like a waterfall. Now it's growing ridiculously fast, up, out, and all around.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - I'm sure he's correct that the tests are not accurate BUT my experience says that if the at home kit says I'm low, I should probably bump it up some.

My Salifert was well within 100 points of my ICP test. Unless the ICP is wrong, my Salifert is close enough to give me a decent ballpark unless I'm shooting for a specific number.
I 100% agree with that, just the way you said it.

@kevgib67 Those stuffed peppers look outstanding. How are you going to have the willpower not to eat them until tomorrow?!
I already had some, she made a pan for the house. I put a little pasta sauce over mine.

for those rowa phos people. when the numbers stop dropping to you add more to the reactor? or clean it all out and start over?
Sorry, I have never used it. Is your CBB still eating white worms?

As far as magnesium goes i try to keep it within a reasonable range. I was more or less stating that as long as the corals seem happy, I wouldnt stress those test results as there is a high chance they weren't accurate and its easy enough to adjust.

When the numbers start rising you dump it and add more.

After 2 pm when the the lights turn on, I'm still undecided whether to move the torches or not, I'm not much of a changer and they're growing really fast, I think from the one head he had when he arrived he now has 4 or 5, but on the other hand his colors have faded a bit.
I think if they are happy there I wouldn't move them.

Mmmmm, bacon! Now’s the dilemma, what to do with it. 🤔

Um you put it in your mouth and chew it up and swallow it... Really at your age I would think you would know how to eat... but then again you did say you went to public school...

If you want the numbers to go down more you must add more quantity, if you want them to be there, follow the steps Tim said and when they start to go up is when it has already lost efficiency.

I tested the Mg, 2 times, 1350 and 1400, the lfs test is super uncalibrated, I cut a few zoas, not all I wanted because I didn't have more plugs, I moved the torch up but I had to put it back in its place because it was getting blasted, I also changed the water and then I went to the park with Jason for a while to play soccer, now I'm going to make the meat lol and continue with the beers
