Do you have a pic of the tank so I can see the water? Sounds like a bacteria bloom. Did anything die in there that you know of before this happened?
Its hard to see it but the water is a bit hazy. Not super hazy though. No deaths that im aware of Keith.

If it's a bacterial bloom, it will deplete oxygen in the tank. Are you able to do a water change?

Last night my ato light was flashing red bc my reservoir ran out of fresh water. But youre only talking maybe one missed top off. The water was still almost level with the sensor.

Would nitrites indicate a bacterial bloom?
nitrites are from biological/organic breakdown, overfeeding or inadequate filtration...all of which lead to a spike in ammonia before it can be broken down and consumed.

I woke up this morning to all of my beautiful fish being dead. I checked salinity and temp. All fine there. The water looks like it might be a bit hazy. Not 100% sure. I did a test strip real quick just out of reaction and have detectable nitrites!?!
Nitrites are from the dead fish.

Any controllers that monitor temperature or pH? Maybe something caused a spike last night?

Nitrites could be because of the fish deaths, which could have caused a bacterial bloom.

Did you check the heater? So very sorry John

I Didn't think about the nitrates being from the dead fish. I don't have any controllers Tim. If my tank survives this, that'll be one of the first changes I make

I'm so sorry John, that's horrible. I can't think of anything that caused this, because all your corals look fine. Maybe the oxygen got depleted? Did you lose power last night? Did any of your pumps stop working?

I had about 3 gallons of mixed water left. If you can believe I was going to get salt Saturday and mix new water for my routine water change day. My lfs that sells my brand of salt is.cloed till tomorrow

No Inkbird or heater controller at all?

Water feel hot or cold?

Thanks, brother. Just like you, Luis, that was the first thing I thought of. It is running fine and tank is at temp

Run an aerator and maybe some carbon if you have some.
I was just about to ask about that. I hooked my aerator to it and doubled the carbon I had in there.

Thanks Walker. No everything seems fine in that regard brother.

Did you take it out of the water to check? If the temperature got too high and the heater was damaged, it could be that the tank is slowly decreasing its temperature.
