Yeah, that stinks, but I know how it goes, dude. My all time favorite Tang - my all time favorite fish, really - is the Blonde Naso. I've been keeping Aquariums now for 37 years, and I've still never owned one.
Now my tank, like I said, has a 180 gallon main display, and many people would say, "oh, that's fine"; or, "lots of people keep them in a 180". They'd be wrong, though. Proper mentors in this hobby taught me otherwise. They taught me to truly do my research and reef responsibly. Blonde Nasos are spectacularly beautiful, especially when they reach their adult sizes and have fully developed streamers. I know that they need an eight foot tank to accommodate their size AND behaviors, though.
When dealing with the lives of other living, breathing creatures of the universe, the objective shouldn't just be about surviving. It should be about thriving, because we MUST be good stewards to the charges in our care. It is our responsibility, not only as hobbyists, but as living, breathing children of the universe, ourselves.
I hope I didn't come across as pontificating. I'm just merely sharing my philosophy of reefing that taught me that, when seeking advice on how to handle
life itself, we should always choose the most conservative responses.
I wish you the best on your reefing journey, Cam. I'm always here if you ever have questions. Please feel free to message me, or drop in on my thread and hang with out with The
#Heathens from time to time.
