Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Plumbing is done for the most part. Waiting on a union for the return pump. I used a wye to split the return lines to avoid using a T fitting to reduce friction.

Well done!

That’s what I have read. How long do you think I should leave it in the tank? I’m putting just a tiny piece in twice a day at the moment and I don’t mind if nutrients increase a bit but I also don’t want to cause any harm.

Funny enough my cleaner shrimp loves the nori for some reason and goes and tears it up. I have no idea why lol.
Before they figured it out, I would leave it in during lights on and remove it at night as the snails are rather fond of it as well. Now I put one in every morning and it is gone by the next morning.

I put nori on a clip but I’ve never actively seen him eating it. Occasionally I see a piece being blown around the tank. He does eat pellets, flake , Reef Jerky, mysis and brine. I think he likes the brine the best. Mine is bigger though, about 4”.
I used to use a clip but found it too messy. I use the Nori Pouch from Two Little Fishes now. No mess.

Rock that looks fantastic my friend

Hey guys? Spirulina Mysis vs Spirulina Brine for a Yellow Tang. Thoughts😁

I have put some nori in and he seems to like the rocks better than the nori. I heard that’s normal though for Captive bred yellows that are smaller. He has been eating some mysis and brine I put in but I was going to grab a Spirulina version as I assume that’s healthier.
Mysis has more nutritional value than brine.

Thanks Tom, I’m going to look into it.

hmmmm. snickers bar in the fridge? Are we hiding this from Jason?
Cold snickers are better than room temp snickers!

So as a result of adding bacteria to my food mix and using a concoction of fermented foods/bacteria/aminos/etc, my Alk dropped from 8.6 to 7.3 in a week. NO3 dropped from 16 to 6.5 and PO4 dropped from 0.20 to 0.09.
This equates to coral growth and coral nutrient uptake as well as more bacteria to break stuff down!
I will adjust dosing and check again next Sunday. I’ll report back.

I like adding a cold snickers bar to my concoction ! . 😋
