Hello friends,
It's almost one year since my first introduction post on Reef2Reef. During that time and then I finally set up mr brand new tank that I was so excited for and had mentioned in my previous post, here is the link in case anyone is interested in seeing what my old tanks looked like.

I previously mentioned that I wanted to get a 6ft drop down peninsula but after talking to several different providers they were charging me well over $4k for the tank to be made with my exact measurements and wants. When I was getting ready to pull the trigger on a $3500 tank, I found a brand new 140 with stand, sump and plumbing for $400!!!! This tank was 100% new and was getting sold because the husband got it without asking permission (RIP). I snatched it up, sold the stand and the sump for $300 and only paid $100 + $150 for the eurobrace that was added later on.
My dad and I built the stand to fit a 3 x 24 x 24 sump with built in ATO, and dosing system. Ordered some colored pipes to make things pretty, but since the tank was using pipes from China the sizes were a bit too small so I had to work around with getting the connections to fit. Once everything was ready and we had tested the tank to make sure nothing leaked I set a date for when I would set up my tank.
On July 17th at 6am I started transferring all livestock and rock into two large containers I got from Costco. There was water EVERYWHERE and it smelled like the ocean. A friend who owns a store stopped by to help me move the tank as well as a reef keeper I became friends with prior to the new tank. They helped me move the old tank and move the new tank into place. Around 10pm i was done with moving all livestock, rock, sand, and equipment into place.
A few couple weeks later my order of new Anthias arrived, but unfortunately the guy who was going to drop off the fish to me changed the delivery date and I was not home during the time. My family added the fish to the tank and surprise surprise the male was sick with velvet. Watching all my fish die one by one was depressing. I was only able to rescue a few fish. After the long and strenuous 11 week wait I was able to finally add my surviving fish to the tank. Once the fish were in the guy who sold me the sick Anthias wanted to make up for what had happened and gave me a Purple, Desjardini, Blue, Midas, Yellow Corris and a few other fish all for $100 as a way to apologize even though I didn't blame him for what happened. I was very grateful for that gesture. All the fish went through QT under my watch and instructed my family to place the fish I'm the QT tanks if I was out of town.
From October to December the tank was running smooth, no more problems and everything was healthy. A few weeks ago my ATO pumped out too much water and that sucked up a ton my Alk since it crystalized when it hit the water and pulled a ton of it into the sump it was like a mountain. All the alk messed up my heater and raised the sump temperature to 87, fortunately I turned off the return pump and closed the valve. I lost a few hammers, two elegance and a couple zoas.
Since October I have stopped using the Skimmer and changed to a full macroalgae, mangroves and about 50 lbs of rock in the sump. I clean the glass every two days and feed the fishies 2 times a day.
Currently my tank is going through some changes. I am selling my euphylia, meat corals, and a few other items and switching to a full Softie, mushroom and leather tank. I am working 8-8 most days so I don't have time to take care of the more needy corals. Not only that but I applied for graduate school to do my PhD program and if I leave California I don't want to leave difficult coral behind and just leave a tank that runs on it's own.
I'll leave the tank specs in a separate part but below is the most recent video of the fish getting fed, me petting my fox face and my clown group.
