School has been keeping me busy so I apologize for the slow updates. Here's a picture of the tank and dosing setup! Finally got some coral too.

There's some anecdotal evidence that bleach is successful in treating for ich. There was a thread in the marine fish disease forum. An individual was dosing bleach in their display as an in tank treatment. According to his results the coral responded very well to even elevated doses.

Theoretically trace levels of sodium hypochlorite in any hobbyists tank as sodium hypochlorite is the byproduct of the electrolysis of salt water. There's always a small amount of stray voltage from equipment driving small levels of electrolysis.

Following along for a few reasons.
1. I like the footprint of the IM 25 lagoon
2. interested in the bleach dosing
3. I saw your icecap ATO. That is the most silent ATO ever, right?
4. I'm considering switching to ESV from BRS

Looking forward to see your progress!

The icecap ATO is seriously amazing, I love it and will put it on every one of my tanks in the future. Best I've used.

As far as ESV goes, I'm also a big fan. I used to manage an aquaculture system in which we used it exclusively. Bob at ESV knows what he's doing and the team there make some awesome products.

I also have the icecap ATO for the past 6 month and it does an outstanding job of maintaining 1.026 salinity...Great product

Hello everyone and sorry for the long absence, dental school is a lot of work! Tank has been on cruise control with no water change from the inception. I have also been keeping true to the bleach dosing schedule. The only inhabitant as of now is a possum wrasse.

Coral has been doing well and no loses so far. Colors are subdued due to an accidental bleaching caused by the light being stuck on, and no measurable NO3 or PO4. My plans for the livestock are to add 2 clownfish of some sort, that’s probably it.

Here are some pics, I know it’s not a good looking tank yet!! I went with some biodiversity in coral choices so I could see if this method would effect anything short term. I plan to trade out most of these with SPS frags. I was playing around with a fish eye as well so I apologize for the weird pictures.

I’ve also upgraded the stock return pump (211 gph) to the jebao dcs 2000 (520 gph), and added two random flow generator (RFG) nozzles from VCA. The jebao is LOUD but I’m hoping it will settle in. The flow in the tank is so much better and less linear now. Much less dead spots in the tank and the RFG create a wave action. Hopefully, this will help the SPS necrosis you can see in spots.

How do you thin the Jebao dcs 2000 would do for a return? I have the IM Lagoon 25 without the back filter. Does it have a soft restart?

I’m using it as a return currently, I like it. It does have a soft restart. It’s a little loud, but others don’t seem to have that problem.

If you’re using the stock return nozzles it may be a bit strong at the highest setting.

Finally back to my tank! Everything is looking good and the coral have grown. I haven’t lost anything over the 6 week period.

I brought a lot of coral back.... I may have overpacked. Among the stock list are:
4 tridacna
A bunch of sps, acans and zoas
Aquaculture pair of clowns, watchman goby and pistol shrimp, 2 x blue line gobies, purple psudeochromis, Pom Pom crab.

Now to mount everything and let it grow!
