I've got the same Green Hairy Acro that is plowing down into my Strawberry Shortcake. It's pretty aggressive, in'it?

Nice shots!
It seems it is aggressive. The Slimer does not appreciate it a d just backs off.
Luckily I have no other corals in the vicinity to get stung.

I have been dealing with my calcium reactor lately.
The main problem is that the CO2 chamber is filling with foam every time CO2 is released.

A video to show the issue.
At he right you see the LED for CO2 which goes after a couple of seconds.
The foam however keeps building till it enters the first reactor.

This means that with every CO2 shot, the CO2 chamber is emptied and the same volume of reactor water e ters the tank.
So instead of having the dosing pump doing the dosing, now the CO2 is doing this.

Result... alkalinity is not constant.

The manufacturer claims that this foam does not affect the working of the reactor.
This is true, there are no alarms, but the thing pushes the alkalinity up, so no... not true.
The Dastaco does not work!

My first idea was to get the Dastaco controller out of the equation.

For that I wanted to know how much water passes the reactor per 24 hrs.
So I took the reactor line off from the tank for 24hrs and ran it in a bucket...
Result: 10.75 ltr / 24 hours.

The alkalinity of that bucket was 57.1 dKH (measured twice)

Till here I got.

My goal:
Ultimately I want to connect all the signals from the Dastaco to the GHL Profilux controller and have it controlled like that.
And I'll add a KH Director to monitor the alkalinity which can help me adjust the reactor dosing manually.

Oh yes, one more thing.

The carduus is coming back.
This was the last frag I could save and grow since the colony died.

You have some beautiful corals Jan, I think I need to make some space and get a few more colourful SPS types, if I can find space. Or buy another tank!! Lol

Well, I believe I mentioned before that there was possibility that I would have to move as my work place was to be shifted to another location, 200km further away.
That plan has been cancelled and the office will stay where it is.

Wait....what?

Which one?

I am not sure yet which one. But due to not moving this office, my job is done in this place and there are no other things to do in the Middle East (Asia).
Now I am trying to get back to America as I have spent the best 12 out of 17 years of my professional career there.
Relocation will be by the end of the year.

Sooo.... When does the new build thread start? :D

Perfect reason to upgrade, LOL!

First things first... to make the list of equipment that I will bring with me and see what to do with this tank.
I do not think I will ever get a tank as big as this one.
A new build might be possible depending on the conditions of the new place.

Something is eating or bothering the corals.
All this happened on 1 night. Those corals are all over the place and not next to each other.
