I'm getting conflicting info on rinsing frozen food. I know what Randy has shared so I'm not coming in blind. I clean the glass less if I rinse and I see less algae. I should say I see NO algae when I rinse but algae starts to develop if I do not rinse...

4 me, video documenting seems best for my own learning and keeping track of things that worked things that did not. My ramblings are proof of that for sure... :D

Made the switch from instant ocean to 2little fishies salt...
not sure if it was a good decision... anyone?
big selling point was the 5 gallon packets vs a 50 gallon packet most salts sell
seems like good reasoning to think the 50 gallon packets might settle some of the various ingredients...?
This is just me testing:

Interesting results. I use this salt and the last time I tested fresh mixed water I got Alk 8.3 (Hanna) and Calcium 420 (Red Sea). I don’t have a Mag test kit. Been using the 4.5 gallon packets since Jan 2019 with no issues. Always mixes up to 1.026 in 4.5 gallons, mixes clean, no leftover gunk In the bucket.

Thanks for the input. I'm going to keep testing all the packets. I don't think I'm replacing enough water to eliminate dosing anyway, I was just a bit surprised.

As I acquire more coral... never thought I would have to dose, but...
It's looking more and more like water changes are not cutting it.

Every time I've ever heard a company use the term "Dream", it's because they are trying to get their hands/bank on the GREEN.
dream vacation
dream kitchen
dream bathroom
dream home
dream aquarium
dream etc...
It's such a simple technique... "don't think about the cost, this is your dream home... you're worth it!"

So, I know to treat such "comments" with extreme skepticism :)

Ok... I have an impotence problem.
can't get my mag up!!!
I've read Randy's posts on this, and everything tells me my test kit is bad. I purchased a brand new Salifert and had my lfs has tested as well. we both come up with the same numbers. Is there anything that consumes magnesium fast in a reef?
could it be precipitating out?
what else can I do to hunt down the culprit?

Once I get it up to 1400, it drops in a couple of weeks to 1290
If I dose to keep it up, my salinity creeps up.
I've used esv b-ionic mag liquid and currently Seachem mag dry

Can't believe it's been a year...
This magnet is pretty nice, can't believe it took me so long.
That's how cheap I am!
